More quinta wildlife
April 29th, 2009. Post by WendyHaving cleared away a lot of the bracken and brambles that have been regrowing, I made another great discovery. These Early Purple Orchids (Orchis mascula) growing all over the lower terraces.

Some other wildflowers growing on the quinta that I managed to capture before the camera batteries died:

The beautiful Erva das sete sangrias (Lithospermum prostratum, or more commonly these days, at plant nurseries anyway, Lithodora diffusa)

Purple columbine (Aquilegia vulgaris)

Primrose (Primula vulgaris)

Common or dog violet (Viola riviniana)
Also noticed Lords and Ladies (Arum maculatum).
